Church Organizations In Canada Get Political About Euthanasia

Let us have no illusions: the Liberals and New Democrats are anti-Christian political parties.

Every journey begins with a single step. That a legal challenge from the office of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Montreal has been filed against Quebec’s end-of-life legislation brings several issues to the political table in terms of Euthanasia laws in Canada.

Arguing the law exists as a violation of religious freedom, the lawsuit states that "the Catholic Church should be exempted from a section of the law requiring all palliative care homes in the province to offer medical assistance in dying."

It's an issue "near and dear" to Cultural Action Party. For over seven years, we have been advocating that the Christian church in Canada must develop its own political platform.

Reason why include the idea that if they do not, woke globalist Liberalism will continue to do what is has been doing to Christian Canadians from the moment Justin Trudeau became prime minister in 2015:

Eroding, degrading, marginalizing, and generally treating Christian communities like dirt. If one cares to notice, Liberal government policy remains antithetical to principles of the Christian faith.

Chief among advocates is a politician who refers to himself as a "practicing Catholic."

Few may recall that back in 2011, Dean Del Mastro, parliamentary secretary to the prime minister, stated on Facebook that it was "outrageous the Catholic school board in Peterborough, Ont. had invited Trudeau to speak for a second time in three years."

"Are there any tenets of the Catholic faith that Justin supports?" posited Del Mastro.

If promoting and funding homosexuality, transgenderism, abortion, Euthanasia, Islam, Sikhism and Communism are tenets of Catholicism, then Trudeau is a follower in high standing.

"Since 2019, St. Raphael’s has sent patients requesting MAID to provincially run facilities, but the church says it should not be forced to provide medically assisted deaths on its property."

"The office of the Archbishop Christian Lepine says palliative care homes should have the same right as medical practitioners to refuse to offer services they are morally opposed to."

Provincial legislation regarding assisted dying in Quebec states that those who qualify for systemic assisted death must "experience constant and unbearable physical or psychological suffering, which cannot be relieved in a manner the patient deems tolerable."

Sounds as if Archbishop Lepine may not be in favour of a Catholic Hospital being forced to end the life of a patient due to depression or other mental maladies. What a let down for the federal Liberals this must be.

"The Quebec palliative care association said in March that there were only four palliative care facilities in the province that didn’t offer MAiD."

Full on, comprehensive Euthanasia policies for every hospital in Quebec, regardless of religious affiliation? Sounds positively draconian to CAP.

Moving beyond particulars opens up a larger can of socio-political worms. There exists a critical reason why Canada's network of Christian Churches must get political. In a nutshell, "everyone else is doing it."

Of course, it wasn't always this way. As with Anglophone political advocacy(still non-existent), there was a time when a need for political solidarity was unnecessary. Reaching back to the 1960's, at a time when Canada was homogeneous in cultural and religious identity, the need was not there.

Times change, as witnessed by rapid growth in political power vested in migrant communities from the 3rd World. Today, Islam is a mighty force in Canadian society, as are Sikh communities.

Due to the federal Liberals, along with federal and provincial NDP parties, Muslim and Sikh communities are over-represented in government. With Pierre Trudeau's multiculturalism as an instrument of power-accumulation, these and other "racialized" peoples have acquired major political power.

All the while, Christian Canada has sat on its hands. Big mistake, say CAP. Much of the dynamic arises from another Pierre Trudeau-founded political mechanism, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. 

For an organization like ours, misunderstanding and misuse of Charter Rights stand at the core of Canada's undoing. It's not so much its contents, which upon viewing appear egalitarian in nature.

It's the use of the Charter, who uses it, and how Canada's legal and court systems have leveraged its contents over the decades.

Here's the thing about Charter Rights-- a message which Canadian media has not once alluded to since the time the Liberal's entrenched the Charter into our Constitution in 1982:

Anyone, or any identifiable community, can leverage Charter Rights. You don't have to be a father of a Sikh high school students who wants to carry a Kirpan(knife) while walking the halls of an Ontario high school.

Fascinating it is to note how legal "experts" in Canada never allude to these concepts. Simply put, a Church can utilize Charter Rights every bit as much as those who scream "Islamophobia." Christian hospitals can leverage Canada's ultimate human rights legislation as much as the uber-influential National Council of Canadian Muslims. It just hasn't happened-- yet.

As Canadian society progresses in ethnic and religious plurality, so should the Church progress with the times, and get political. In this regard, let us have no illusions: the Liberals and New Democrats are anti-Christian political parties.

Justin Trudeau calls himself a "progressive" politician, yet upon close observation, he picks and chooses what is considered such, while throwing unwanted forms of progress in the garbage can.

Consider this piece of reality: this Trudeau character has been prime minister for eight years. Number of instances where he has visited Canadian Mosques, often taking part in religious ceremonies: too many to count.

Attendance at Christian church services: Zero.

Times have indeed changed. So much so that the time has arrived for Canadian churches and related organization to "get political."

To refrain plays directly into the hands of our neo-authoritarian federal Liberal and NDP parties.
