Why are the British Home Children ever mention.? There were more than 100,000 sent to Canada as "orphans" . 12 % of our current population are descendants. However, they are never recognized like the Indigenous, and never seem to be considered part of our History or their contribution to Canada. During WW1, 1,000 Home Boys paid the ultimate sacrifice, most common date of death was April 9, 1917 , the first day of the Battle at Vimy Ridge.
