One of the present prevailing problems of maintaining responsible government is that there are so few remaining who demand it. Society is beset with a type of craven shallowness that prevents the majority from reading enough history and philosophy to understand where the degenerate virtue signalling of our political class originated. There is no greater form of naivety than to blindly trust the intentions of our politicians who thinly veil their illiberality in rhetoric that seems innocuous. Every totalitarian regime of the past used such tactics to deliberately deceive a sufficient proportion of the populace to grab hold of the reigns of power and were brilliant at weaponizing the youth of their day to accomplish their wicked ends, just as we are seeing today. The kids you see trying to tear everything down have not organized themselves!
