Why Justin Trudeau’s Politics Are Anything But Liberal
Has liberalism itself progressed from individual liberty to pseudo-communist control?
Liberalism is a political philosophy based on individual liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law.
The Liberal ethos generally support individual rights, democracy, secularism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion and a market economy.
The core competencies of liberalism include:
-- willingness to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; openness to new ideas.
-- a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise.
To state that these values have eroded within modern Canadian society is putting it mildly. "Consent of the governed" is a thing of the past. Poll after poll reveal divergence between public opinion and government policy. The most recent being opinion on a full boycott of the Beijing Olympics. Immigration policy, refugee intake, citizenship for terrorists-- time and again Liberal government decision-making runs counter to public will.
Individual rights is a most contentious issue. Covid-related restrictions are impeding this fundamental of liberalism in a profound capacity.
Brian Peckford, former premier of Newfoundland, was part of the group of lawmakers and politicians who formulated Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms in the early 1980’s.
In terms of the impact of the pandemic, Mr. Peckford states in an interview that he “cannot believe what is happening to our country. I am extremely saddened by government enacting measures that clearly violate the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”
Both a fundamental of liberalism and democracy, freedom of speech is currently under attack. The Trudeau government's Bill C-10 and Bill C-36 call for internet censorship, including punitive damages and fines for violators.
On the topic of individual rights, no piece of legislation has impacted society more than the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In the year 2000, two Canadians published a book called "The Charter Revolution And The Court Party."
"The Charter of Rights has transformed Canadian politics. The Court made itself the second most powerful institution in Canadian politics after the Federal Cabinet. Behind the judges is a well orchestrated network of state-funded interest groups that use litigation and the media to achieve what they can't win through democratic elections."
Erosion of democracy right here. Here we see what ex-Liberal PM Pierre Trudeau brought to Canada. A paradigm shift occurred as a result. Special interest groups backed by leftist lawyers began to assert myopic desires into the public arena. It continues to this very day.
If readers wonder why, for example, the Transgender movement has so much power in society, the roots are found here. Due to the Charter's introduction in 1982, Canada shifted on its political axis.
The result was disempowerment of public will, to be replaced by “special interest” will–the sufferings of minorities being first and foremost. The Charter went so far as to disempower Members of Parliament. Suddenly, our society was being controlled by the “will of the minority" as advocated by the PMO and the courts(non-elected). The result was an erosion of true democracy.
In 2015, the entire phenomenon went through the roof. The election of Justin Trudeau as prime minister ushered what in reality is a new Canadian society. Liberalism transitioned to what may best be described as pseudo-communism. The seeds sown through father Pierre Trudeau's Charter become magnified as Justin Trudeau transferred Canada to the far reaches of leftist globalism.
Of course, he didn't do it alone. A communist-style synthesis of government and media messaging paved the way. News presentation morphed into propaganda intent upon conditioning public in support of liberal-globalism, or what is currently known as "woke politics."
More was to come. Of any phenomenon involved, nothing can touch Covid-19 as a catalyst for a new Canadian order. The result of the pandemic being an ability for government to control citizenship behavior like never before. It serves as justification for an emulation of authoritarian societies.
Don't walk here, don't stand there, don't assemble in crowds(no public protests-- just like China), and countless other restrictions. All of it conditioning citizens to behave in the same manner as citizens do in non-democratic, communist and theocratic nations.
And most relevant of all-- get yourself vaccinated. And what if you don't? Those people line up to join the maligned "anti-Vaxxers." Shunned and ostracized, these folks have become a 21st century villain community.
Does all this "liberalism" reflect a move toward individual freedoms, or government control? Is it a coincidence that the circumstances developed within the six-year period that Justin Trudeau has remained prime minister? Where is all this leading?
Degree of contemplation on the issues from mainstream media: nothing at all. Justin Trudeau enjoys positioning his Liberal government as "progressive." Has he conveniently omitted is that liberalism itself has progressed from individual liberty to pseudo- communist control?
