I believe they want more (renounce the declaration) so they can then enter it legally as a land return. They want southern land near or on waterways where much farm land exists. Apparently, away from the spotlight, countries like Saudi Arabia have bought up major farmland in Canada. The idea is to produce the food exclusively for the Saudis, ship it off to them without Canadians receiving a crumb of the output. Same for China.

There is absolutely nothing Trudeau or any Federal Government could do to prevent the Western Provinces from becoming autonomous. NOT. ONE. THING. What could Trudeau, threaten to change his sockies? Oooooooooo. Scary.
The Center of the Earth doesn't seem to realize or refuses to accept the clear fact that they desperately need the West to survive at a decent level. The West has really no use for anything East of Sudbury. Seriously. Other than a few hundreds of parking spots, what does Ottawa offer to the West? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We don't even need them for a pipeline or a shipping route to the Atlantic. We have access to the Arctic coast and to Alaska. We have the entire Pacific coast.
We have thought about this and I have a couple if ideas. A home equity tax would have to have a defined valuation date. We & our neighbors could use a lawyer, "purchase" each other's homes, and simply not move. At some time in the future, we would then again use a lawyer and "buy" our homes back at a massively increased paper price. Just a few thousand for legal and Government fees. That increased price would have to be used by a Government as a base price.
An alternative would be to simply have the building "accidentally" catch fire. We would take the insurance cheque and head for Mexico or ??
