Diversity Minister Ahmed Hussen, working with Bernie Farber’s ANTIHATE NETWORK, has recently declared that the 1921 Red Ensign a Hate Symbol. This is an important event, possibly a crossing point and maybe even a tipping point in Canadian History. Here’s why.

The Canadian soldiers who fought in World War One wanted a flag that Canadians could call our own. The first Canadian Red Ensign existed in 1868 however it was typically used only in marine applications. It was revised and adopted for more general use in 1921. In 1957 the leaves on the flag’s standard were changed from Green to Red. The current red Maple Leaf flag was adopted in 1965.

Not every Canadian is enamoured of the Maple Leaf flag. Some Quebecers liked it because it eliminated the Union Jack and Sovereigntists prefer Quebec’s Fleur des Lys. Monarchists like the Union Jack. There are people who like the Red Ensign with green leaves on the standard that the newer one with red leaves. I’m one of those who believe that the green growing leaves are a better symbol on a flag than red and dying leaves.

Ahmed Hussen’s and Bernie Farber of ANTIHATE.CA’s assertion that the Red Ensign is a hate symbol is just one more example of the Liberal Party’s efforts to denigrate Canadian history. If we agree to abolish use of the Red Ensign flag there is no doubt in my mind that similar arguments can be used to prohibit possession of a Qur’ an in Canada. If anyone doubts that they need only ask, and I’ll provide a list of the hateful statements found in the Qur’ an.
I grew up learning we are ‘all’ people. In my 70 years plus I have never seen such discrimination! Trudope is the instigator of a lot of division. If he doesn’t like his skin color in Canada then he should pack his bags and take the first plane to Cuba. Or, he likes water, let him swim🤮🤮🤮
