Russia occupied 17 NATO States for 46 years (1945 – 1991) and he apparently gave little or no thought to how they would react to an invasion of Ukraine. My best guess is that there are already at least a dozen small groups within those countries, that are working on plans to assassinate Putin. They will likely begin by assassinating a few of the Russian Oligarchs who support him, so there is a small chance that he may survive for some time, but they will eventually succeed.
