When we decided to immigrate to Canada in early '80s (from a non Anglo country, to be clear), the brochures sent by the Canadian government at that time were presenting the country as socially balanced, a paradise almost. We moved to Toronto where car doors were not locked in parking lots and one could walk day and night in perfect safety. There were some frictions, some customers would refuse to be driven by Indian taxi drivers.......but the sign "No pets no Irish" on apartment building entrances were a thing of the past. For the many years that followed we really enjoyed living amongst people of so many cultures in very reasonable harmony. Since 2015, though, all we hear from the T government and its vassals is that Canadians (this includes us too, I guess) are the worst kind of breed among nations, shamefully racist, homophobic, supremacist, misogynist, you name it.............my Good....how Canada fooled us.......should we sue Ottawa for feeding us "fake news" 40 years ago just to let us into a country that suddenly, since T came to power, transformed us from civilized beings in barbarians? ..............I guess you get the idea.....
This really goes beyond the pale, what is Trudeau thinking, this will only anger people more as it may trigger racist feelings where once there were few.. I fear we may be reaching the end of tolerance, I know I am, especially when I think he’s doing this for votes.
